Happy Parent-Child Reading: Taipei Veterans General Hospital Celebrates Children's Day in Advance

In order to promote parent-child reading, Taipei Veterans General Hospital celebrated Children's Day in advance before the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions and the arrival of spring break. On March 30th, Vice President Hou Ming-chih led a team of pediatric healthcare professionals to the parent-child reading area in the pediatric outpatient department, where they enjoyed activities with parents and children. They distributed picture books and even danced the "Baby Shark: Hand Washing Dance" together with the children, creating a joyful Children's Day celebration that combined literacy and epidemic prevention concepts.

Vice President Hou Ming-chih stated that parents only need to spend a little time each day reading with their children. This not only stimulates the brain development of infants and young children, sparks imagination and creativity, but also enhances parent-child interaction. It is a win-win situation. He also expressed gratitude on behalf of the hospital to Yangding International Development Co., Ltd. and many generous individuals who donated children's books to promote parent-child reading, allowing the future leaders of the country to grow better.

Professor Cheng Mei-chih from the Neonatal Medical Center, Director Lee Yu-sheng from the Neonatology Department, Director Cao Pei-zhen from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Head Nurse Tao Chun-lan from the Pediatric Outpatient Department, and Library Director Xiao Jing-ru from Taipei Veterans General Hospital all emphasized that parent-child reading is the best gift for Children's Day. By dedicating focused time to read with their children and cherishing every moment spent together, children's growth will exceed expectations.
