Respiratory Therap Department

The Respiratory Therapy Department is the main training institution offering specialized programs of respiratory care for physicians and respiratory therapists in the country. In the past 17 years, some 40 physicians and more than 500 therapists have been trained and are providing respiratory care for patients with respiratory failure in hospitals throughout Taiwan.

The department offers respiratory care to patients with acute respiratory failure and medical care for critically ill patients. It also provides rehabilitative care for patients with chronic respiratory failure, and patient education programs for asthmatic patients. A hyperbaric chamber was installed 1992, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy is provided for patients with problem wounds, carbon monoxide poisoning, chronic refractory osteomyelitis and decompression sickness.
