Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department includes three divisions: General Rehabilitation, Neurological Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, to offer a comprehensive multi-disciplinary program of physical medicine, among which physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy are the best of its kind in Taiwan. It was the first in Taiwan to initiate psychosocial rehabilitation and occupational rehabilitation services for patients. The department has the most advanced electromyograph to diagnose muscle disease and nervous disorders, and was the first in Taiwan to apply electromyography techniques in spinal neurosurgical operations. For high-risk prematurities in PICU, the department can provide early intervention rehabilitation programs and long-term follow-up for their psychomotor development. For those who have undergone open-heart or heart transplantation surgeries, the department can perform cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services. In order to meet special needs the department offers specialized care services including urodynamic, infrared thermographic examinations, swallowing disturbance and sensory integration therapy.
